About Torino & Piemonte
An ideal synthesis of art, history, culture and landscape, Piemonte is a territory full of charm that offers the visitor countless places to visit and explore in unique locations, both architectural and naturalistic.
Four UNESCO World Heritage Sites are highly fascinating: the Royal Residences, which dot the area with a network of palaces, churches, summer residences and magnificent gardens; the Sacri Monti, which include amazing devotional complexes erected between the 16th and 17th century, perfectly integrated into a natural and landscape environment made of hills, woods and lakes; the Vineyard Landscapes of Langhe-Roero and Monferrato, an evocative scenery of hilly expanses, ancient villages and castles; the archaeological site of Viverone/Azeglio, included in the system of prehistoric pile-dwelling sites in the Alps.
Capital of Piemonte and the first capital of Italy, Turin is today a lively cultural hub, characterised by a rich heritage of museums, monuments and events. The Museo Egizio (Egyptian Museum) is the second in the world after Cairo. The Museo Nazionale del Cinema (National Cinema Museum), one of the most important internationally for the wealth of its film material, is housed in the Mole Antonelliana, which with its 167 meters is the symbol of the city.
